Woolloomooloo is Sydney's most famous suburb. With the exception of the Finger Wharf, there's not much information about it. Hence this Page.
Celebrating the best of Woolloomooloo; filling the information gap on this glorious Sydney suburb and it's immediate area (which was all labelled Woolloomooloo/Woolloomooloo Heights in 1850). It's a name copied the world over, but this is where it originated, in the language of the Gadigal people.
It is believed that Sydney's first inhabitants used the word "Walla-mulla" to describe the bay. The word meant "place of plenty" or of the "black kangaroo".
